East Micronesia Cable Hits New Milestone with Kosrae Landing Station

Kosrae, FSM – The East Micronesia Cable (EMC) project has taken a major step forward with the arrival of FSM’s second cable landing station in Kosrae.

Australian Ambassador Jenny Grant-Curnow and Governor Tulensa Palik visited the new site alongside key partners, marking another achievement in the project’s progress. Following the Pohnpei station installation in February, EMC remains on track for completion by December 2025.

Funded by United State of America, Australia, and Japan, the 2,250-kilometre-long cable will improve internet access for over 100,000 people across FSM, Kiribati, and Nauru, providing faster, more reliable connectivity.

Australia has contributed AUD 60 million via the AIFFP toward the AUD 135 million project, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing digital access in the Pacific.
